Neytiri is at home recouping from her dental surgery.

She now only has most of her canines, the rest were lost because the rot & infection was so bad.

She's on pain meds for a few days & lots of antibiotics.

Hoping she starts to feel better soon.

She will probably think that eating canned food for the rest of her life is worth the dental soreness for a few days!

Hope she feels better soon! My furry kitty, Squeaks, had to have all of her teeth pulled. She felt rotten for a couple of days, but then started crunching away at the dry food - crushing it in her jaws. He favorite treat is the teeth cleaning bites (Hills T/D) I give the cats! Once she recovers she'll feel so much better without those painful teeth!

Last night she was acting quite differently then she has since i've had her. She actually was choosing to lay in a kitty bed in my kitten room instead of under the covers on my bed.

She also was all over me at bed time demanding attention. Up until yesterday we only really saw her when she would ask to be fed. As soon as she was done eating she would get back in bed & stay there.

This morning she didn't eat, which concerns me since she has never refused to eat for me.

Hoping my daughter can get her to eat before I get home from work.

HI I hope she heals well the good thing in if a cat has bad teeth its best to get them out then the cat does quite well. how old is your girl and where did you get her?
the oriental wich is used as peterbald outcross is know for having bad teeth in some lines and in general as a breed not such great teeth , do you know what osh lines are behind her thanks in advace.
Im trying to fugure out why they used the osh as outcross , most bald gene cats are somewhat fragile as are the osh . why make a new breed that you know is going to have problems , your girl is wonderful by the way thanks for sharing

I hope Neytiri is doing better today and eating like a champ. I've read that cats can even eat raw and bones just fine..

I actually came across her when she came into the Cat rescue group I am part of. Imagine that, a Peterbald abandoned outside in terribly cold wet weather!! As soon as I heard we had a "sphynx" dropped off at the center I was on the phone to the president of the group telling her I wanted the kitty. It was a day later that someone saw her picture that we were corrected and told she was a Peterbald. She is estimated to be around 8 years old.

We did track down the "breeder" or someone that claims it was her cat at one time and she said that the cats teeth were that bad cuz she had some kind of medical condition that made it so she couldn't eat dry food so she was being fed Friskies, AD and Goat's Milk.....Uh the medical condition was BAD TEETH!! She was observed today happily crunching away on dry food.

I am hoping to get a birth date on her, but it doesn't matter to me. Right now I say she was born on 11/25/2003.....2003 to represent the 8 years and 11/25 to represent her "birth" of getting to me.

Neytiri is eating!!

She was even caught eating dry food!!

As soon as I got home from work she came downstairs and told me it was time to eat, so a half can of Recovery was served and she ate every bit.

She should be ready for another half can in an hour or so. I am feeding her every time she tells me she is hungry. She actually had a potbelly after this feeding, I think I was seeing dry & wet food causing that.

I have a feeling she is going to start gaining weight fast! I can also tell she is more comfortable cuz when she lays next to me at night she doesn't stay all cuddled up, she stretches out and drapes herself over and around me....probably cuz she is trying to absorb all my body heat.

My God I love this cat!!! I am going to make her adoption official here in a few weeks once hubby gets paid. I can't wait!!!!

I even started to tear up...what wonderful news! Reading that part about her suspected "old owner" saying she had a medical condition that long ago--and knowing that was probably bad teeth--it made me cry to think that poor girl has been suffering for eight years....I truly believe she was sent to you--that you were each other's Christmas presents. May it be nothing but super smooth sailing and purrs from now on!
