Just found this on petfinder. Not being adopted out by me. Poor kitty! Hope he finds a great home!
Pets In Need of Homes - Adoptable pets not in shelters posted — 02-13-2012 Sphynx (hairless cat) Senior, Male Hello, I am the owner of a red/white neutered male sphynx. He was given to me in 2006 by my aunt who was retiring as a cat breeder and was adopting out her cats. He has had a wonderful home for the almost 6 years that he has been with me but I now find myself in a situation where I can no longer care for him. Pokey is a very sweet, very affectionate cat who gets along with everyone; humans, other cats, and even dogs. When I adopted him from my aunt I also adopted another female sphynx and she and Pokey lived very happily together with me for 3 years until my female sphynx was diagnosed with cancer. After two separate surgeries to remove tumors, she finally succumbed to the cancer and I had to put her down. A very sad day for me and I still keep a photo of her on my wall. Pokey also, being an older cat (TICA registration states dob: 04/01/1999), has some special needs. He has some possible skin melanoma's on his back, my vet feel this is due to sun exposure and his age. I unfortunately am limited in what I can do for him in terms of veterinary treatment. I recently went through a divorce and am currently freelancing from my home. I don't have the financial resources to give him the treatment he needs. My vet feels he has several more good years of love left! He eats well, is a very healthy weight (a little pudgy, and he's been that way since I adopted him) and has no other issues other than the small melanoma's. I really don't want to put him down, he's still a very happy cat. My vet suggested inquiring with some pet rescue organizations and try to get him adopted by someone who can give him the love and treatment he needs. Please let me know if you can help. I find myself in a very tough situation and none of the options that I have are ideal but I want to do what is best for Pokey. I am attaching two photos (I can take better ones) for your consideration. Thank you so much for your consideration. * House Trained * Spayed/Neutered Owner: SANTA MARIA, CA 720-272-8235 |
