In honor of the great people who diligently serve and have served our country, we will honor them by sprucing up our Sphynx kitties and showing them off here on the Lair, its simple, just send us a pic and win some really cool prizes!

My father served over 25 years in the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fi

Here is how the Memorial Day contest works!

All you have to do is email a picture of your kitty to admin@Sphynxlair.com either dressed up in something honoring our military, camo gear, flag, anything of that nature, be creative! No photo shop allowed it has to be a picture you have taken. Google memorial day and search google images to find ideas!

We will accept pictures until May 30th Memorial Day until 5 p.m. and then open the polls on May 30th at between 5-6 p.m. The members will then vote for their favorite picture (only one vote per person). Polls will be open until May 31st 8 p.m. and the winners will be announced on June 1st! And can claim their great prizes!

All members can enter but in order to vote you must be a member for at least 1 month!
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and will be a secret!
Please include your name and address with the submission of your photo so we know where to send your prize

Great idea. My Dad served in the Korea War also.
I am greatful for our Vets. each and everyone.

Great idea! My husband was in the Army National Guard and served in Iraq. Also my two older children's father was a Marine for ten years and served in Iraq. Gotta love our troops!!

My friend posted this on Facebook a couple days ago and I though it was really good. I super appreciate our soldiers and the sacrifices they make.

A Veteran is someone who, at some point in their life, wrote a blank check to USA for an amount of up to and including their life.

Though I think it's a great idea to honour soldiers who devote their lives to protect their country, I think it's a shame that you are only speaking of American soldiers while Sphynx Lair is an international community. I understand that Memorial Day is for Americans, but could you not loosen the rules a bit so I can enter the contest as well by honouring my country's brave soldiers?

I think the rules just say "honouring the military".......not American military......at least that is the way I read it. Im Canadian and we dont have memorial day either but I was still thinking of entering...
So I think you should go for it! More countries represented the better....

Oh I see what you are saying ....the post says "OUR military"

But if you are reading it in another country then "OUR" is still yours too.....I wouldnt worry. Im sure they mean everyone!!

of course you can enter, Memorial day in my eyes honors all military whom serve or served my country or any other for that matter. Any human willing to put their life on the line for a country deserves a day of memory! Hope this clears things up!

Thanks peeps for voting. By the way, that is my dad in the picture. He passed away just over 10 years ago from colon cancer, just out of active service as a Lt. Commander in the Navy (colon cancer from radiation on his ship). He was given a full military honored funeral, buried at sea with a missing man fly-by, gun salute, etc. We are very proud! That is one of his dress glvoes in the picture too, my sister has the other one. I just happened to catch Fluffy looking over at the items!
